What is Hypnosis
Hypnosis happens naturally whenever a person is inclined to accept outside suggestions. Hypnosis makes memories more real and ideas clearer. It can act to help you heal more rapidly, be more creative, and change for the better.
How does Hypnosis work?
Hypnosis happens automatically anytime a person becomes deeply relaxed or highly focused. It happens when a person daydreams, while driving, reading a book, or watching a movie. Through the use of carefully worded suggestions, a professional hypnotherapist can prompt and fine tune hypnosis in clients and help them to make changes.Hypnotherapy uses your own ability to access the subconscious mind to safely bring about the changes you require in your life. It works in a similar way to updating an outdated program running on your computer.
What does Hypnosis feel like?
Most hypnosis subjects describe it as extremely pleasant and deeply relaxing, giving them a feeling of well being. The most common feelings reported include: deep relaxation, a tingly feeling, a feeling of heaviness or sensation of floating, a desire to swallow more, slight body twitches, eye fluttering, and a change in breathing pattern.
Generally speaking, clients hear and remember most of what is said during the session. They are very aware of their own body and breathing, as well as the temperature of and sound in the room. Most people are actually more (not less) aware of what is going on when they are hypnotized. A very small number of people go so deeply into hypnosis that they have no memory of the session at all, but most hear and remember what went on.
Is a deep state of hypnosis necessary for hypnosis to work?
Absolutely not! In most cases, a light state is just as effective as a deep state. In changing attitudes and behavior, a light state of hypnosis can actually work better because the client is more certain to remember the suggestion given.
Common fallacies of hypnosis?
Contrary to popular belief, you are not asleep or unconscious when hypnotized. Clients do not lose control during the sessions and can freely choose to disregard any suggestions the hypnotherapist makes. Hypnosis makes a person more inclined to do the things they want to do, but not things that go against their own belief systems.
What can hypnosis be used for?
Hypnosis can be used for virtually anything.
The most common uses of hypnosis include;

I shall try and listen to my cd at the weekend to continue the progress. Hi Hazel, not sure if you heard we had a beautiful little girl on 21st March called Tallulah. We had an incredible home birth and Chris was a total rock. I just wanted to say thank you again for our wonderful hypnosis session. It was such a healing and important thing to do. I really feel it set me free to be the mum I always dreamed I could be! Thank you Hazel. Hope you are well and have lots of fun plans for the summer. Really hope to see you soon. Lots of love xxxx
Hazel Testimonial - Amy
I came to Hazel at a time of real difficulty for me to conquer a problem that was relatively specific but also had broader importance for me in terms of coping with anxiety and worry. In our first session we talked at length about the problems I was having and Hazel explained exactly what a Hypnotherapy session would entail. This immediately made me feel much calmer and less nervous about it all as I wasn’t really sure what to expect. The Hypnotherapy itself was a real revelation for me - I immediately felt the benefits in that the habit I was trying to eliminate was considerably reduced and I felt that a real sense of calm and self empowerment had been re-established. I see Hypnotherapy now not as a slightly daunting and scary prospect but basically as just being in a highly relaxed state and having encouraging and positive things reinforced to you. Your mind is also free to explore certain things in a way that is just not possible in full consciousness and this is incredibly rewarding. Hazel also explained to me the make-up of a habit and this was incredibly illuminating as it enabled me to see my behaviour from an informed perspective. She is wonderfully sharing and wants to give us the power to understand ourselves better which is ultimately the best thing I have taken from our sessions; she has given me the tools to help myself. Since that initial session we’ve had one more and I listen to the recordings of these sessions all the time. I will continue to do this as, in a similar fashion to how you might exercise to keep your body fit, Hazel has helped me realised the importance of giving your mind the space for this too. I can not recommend Hazel highly enough, she is incredibly understanding and knowledgable about human behaviour and has just such a wonderfully compassionate and caring air which would make anyone feel immediately reassured and comfortable.
Following hypnosis with Hazel I overcame my fear of birds and feathers and now my husband and I keep chickens! Wendy
I worried for 3 months about a presentation at work - then following hypnosis I was able to relax and enjoy presenting. I was even asked back to present to another group! The bonus was I didn’t even blush - Sue
I would just like to thank you so much for the help that you have given me in curing my fear of flying. I suspect there could have been no one more terrified of the ordeal of plane travel than myself, so much so that over the previous 20 years I have refused any travel abroad other than by car.
I now thoroughly enjoy the experience of flying. Im going back to the states in August to watch the us open tennis cant wait especially for the flight.
Unexpectedly I have also lost my fear of traveling in lifts and through tunnels. My husband who admitted he was slightly skeptical that I would be cured cannot believe the change which has occurred and how this has broadened our horizons and all this in just one session!! Thank you, Donna
Thank you so much for helping me over come my fear of presenting in front of others and improving my general self confidence, I was amazed how easily my whole approach to speaking at events changed and how much I now enjoy myself and look forward to being in front of groups!! I will be grateful to you and the power of hypnosis for ever. Olivia
Just a quick one to let you know - have passed the 'Life in the UK' test which I sat yesterday. Amazingly I had no anxious moments at all and everything I needed came to me completely naturally!
Thanks so much for the session, it really did make a huge difference! Lynne
The sessions were excellent, Thank you, thank you , thank you, this is the first time that I feel very good and I have had no fear of air travel, while coming back to Romania from my visit to you, Thank you, everything as always best to you. Rakesh
Testimonial for Hazel Newton
I would highly recommend having hypnosis with Hazel if you want to lose weight and / or give up smoking.
I had tried for many years to give up smoking and whilst I could always stop for a few weeks, the habit would always creep back and then the fear of failure would stop me from trying again for months / years. Latterly, I had also battled to lose weight again with little or no success.
I had my first hypnosis with Hazel in July 2003, this focused on weight loss and exercise. I had a subsequent session for smoking in February 2004. I have to say I’m amazed with the results and I now eat healthy food, exercise regularly and never touch cigarettes. What is amazing is how easy it has been compared with my many previous attempts. Since my first session, I have lost over 5 stone (with perhaps another 1½ stone to go), I also see a personal trainer twice a week and comfortably run 5 miles once a week.
I’ve no real idea how hypnosis works and I don’t really care. All that matters as far as I’m concerned is that it does work.
